Each crow is individually hand-built, and as a result no two of them are exactly alike. So, even the production pieces have a uniqueness to them.
I craft each bird body using aluminum foil, then add legs of twisted steel wire. I use black Sculpey polymer clay over the foil core to flesh out each crow. Once it is smoothed out to my satisfaction, I add blue goldstone beads for the eyes and use a ceramic pin tool to draw in wings and facial details. A Basic Crow is then ready for the oven.
For the more complex crows, Sculpey accessories are added before baking. On some models, such as Cinephile Crow, add-ons are applied after baking. Then, when the crow has cooled, I paint the legs black with an indoor/outdoor acrylic latex paint.
Last of all, a charm on a thin leather cord is hung around the neck of the Basic Crow, as well as other selected models. (Or not, if you prefer your crow naked.) It is then ready to find a good home.
